Investir dans les partenaires locaux

We fuel the reproductive justice field for the long-term by building the financial sustainability, resilience, and autonomy of local organizations so they can drive lasting change in their communities.

A strong, feminist civil society is essential to democracy and to protecting sexual and reproductive health and rights. But too often, these organizations are underfunded, under-resourced, and under threat.

Fòs Feminista has funded and supported civil society partners worldwide for decades. We contribute to building more resilient and creative feminist organizations and movements by:

  • Providing long-term support to partners through flexible and project-based grantmaking
  • Co-creating strategies for large-scale initiatives that respond to urgent needs
  • Building transnational and transregional learning spaces for collaboration and learning
  • Cultivating diverse feminist and youth leaders in decision-making spaces of the Alliance
  • Unlocking new financing—like impact investing and social enterprises—to power innovative, sustainable solutions.

Our Investments

Fòs Feminista directs funding and resources to partners so they can meet urgent priorities, build financial autonomy, and secure long-term sustainability.

$36M

in grant funding distributed to partners in 2023-2024, including $10M in flexible grants

Flexible support lets partners decide how best to use resources to advance their missions and respond to emerging needs. More than half of our partners that receive flexible funding report that they use it to cover general operating expenses.

47

income-generating business models supported to sustain and multiply our impact

Social enterprise initiatives help partners expand their reach while generating the funds to cover their operations. Through our Innovation and Social Enterprise Lab, we have supported 31 partners to design, launch, or strengthen 47 social enterprise initiatives, creating a foundation for sustainable growth.

$3.9M

in loans made through our Feminist Impact Fund

Loans from our Feminist Impact Fund have flexible terms. This means partners can tap into larger financing quickly, investing in social impact initiatives that generate income and a steady cash flow to repay loans. So far, the fund has backed 16 initiatives, from reproductive health clinics and mobile health units to contraceptive distribution and maternal health innovations.

Driving Impact Through Feminist Financing

We build the strength and resilience of local feminist organizations through:

Flexible and project-based grantmaking

Our commitment to redistributing funding to local partners is reflected in our grantmaking ratio: in 2024, Fòs Feminista distributed 56% of its operating expenses as grants to partners. These included flexible support for operating expenses, seed funding for social enterprise, emergency grants, project-based funding, and resources for knowledge-sharing.

Social enterprise and innovation

Partners generate income by providing healthcare services, contraceptives, and trainings tied to their expertise in sexual and reproductive health and rights. These social enterprises expand access while creating steady revenue to fuel future growth.

Gender-lens investing

Research shows that women-led enterprises serving women and girls generate stronger financial returns and greater social impact. Through our Feminist Impact Fund, we invest with a gender lens (directing capital to women-led organizations and to businesses that improve the lives of women and girls). Our loans help partners launch or expand sustainable initiatives that deliver care.

Capacity-sharing and institutional strengthening

We draw on the collective expertise of our Alliance to facilitate partner-to-partner capacity sharing around shared priorities. We also provide support to help partners strengthen programming, financial analysis, and strategic leadership, building more resilient institutions.

Fòs Feminista has been an excellent ally since the beginning of our work together. We have received financial support to provide training on sexual and reproductive rights to our members, as well as increasing our participation in advocacy actions and claiming our rights. Partner response

Our Investments in Practice

Feminist Impact Fund, Belize

One-stop health care

With two loans from Fòs Feminista’s Feminist Impact Fund over the last three years, BFLA has transformed its headquarters into a comprehensive sexual and reproductive health clinic that provides a range of free services through the national health program. In 2024, the loan enabled BFLA to do needed renovations and purchase a 6-month of medications to add an in-house pharmacy for distributing contraceptives and other medications; imaging services; and a laboratory.

Repayable financing, Bolivia

A new clinic made possible by a low-interest loan

In 2023, CIES opened a new clinic in Cochabamba offering sexual and reproductive health services, general health consultations, inpatient care, and surgery. A low-interest loan from the Feminist Impact Fund helped finance construction and leverage co-investment from a local bank. Since opening, the clinic has generated steady revenue and delivered more than 23,500 consultations, 61% focused on sexual and reproductive health.

Capacity-Sharing, Latin America and the Caribbean

Strengthening midwives’ role in abortion care

In 2025, Fòs Feminista supported a learning exchange in Uruguay with midwives from four partner organizations across the region. Together they explored midwives’ crucial role in advancing abortion care through sensitization, training, and task-shifting—building a shared feminist strategy for expanding access.
