Initiatives

Fostering Global South Solidarity and Innovation

The Fòs Feminista Alliance brings together the experience and creativity of partners across regions. By connecting shared interests, we spark collaboration, fuel innovation, and strengthen solidarity.

For more than three decades, Fòs Feminista has supported knowledge-sharing among partners.

In 2024, we relaunched this work as the Communauté de partage des capacités—a global platform for two-way exchange. During its first year, partners strengthened their work in advocacy, community-centered care, and institutional resilience.

With initial funding from Fondation Chanel and the Virginia B. Toulmin Foundation for work in Latin America and the Caribbean, combined with our own resources, we are now expanding the program worldwide.

Global South Solidarity in Numbers

Since 2024, 47 partners from 28 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia and Oceania, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Europe have joined Fòs Feminista’s knowledge-sharing community.

partners built financial resilience through the Innovation and Social Enterprise Lab

Partners created earned-income initiatives such as sexual and reproductive health clinics that integrate Indigenous practices, training programs for midwifery, and gender equality advisory services for the private sector.

partners connected through direct capacity-sharing exchanges

Issues addressed in these exchanges include: social decriminalization of abortion; increasing access to community care; sex ed and youth-friendly services for marginalized populations; co-leadership structures; telehealth and e-commerce platforms; and mobile health units.

partners participated in regional forums for strategy and collaboration

The forums provided safe, strategic spaces for dialogue, fostering solidarity and collective action across the Alliance.

It is an honor to be part of this courageous space for collective thinking and shared leadership. We feel very inspired by the possibility of continuing to learn together, collaborate, and strengthen our collective work to defend sexual and reproductive health and rights in the region. MOVEMENT BUILDING, HAITI AND MEXICO

Sharing strategies for social norms change

Building on longstanding work in Mexico to shift social norms around abortion, Fòs Feminista connected a Mexican partner with a partner in Haiti, where abortion is completely banned, to learn about effective strategies for the social decriminalization of abortion.
