International

ART: @zumbambico

Fòs Feminista launches first-of-its-kind research that tracks the impact of the Dobbs decision has made on laws, policies, narratives, and movements across Colombia, India, Kenya and Nigeria.

In 2022 Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization overturned both Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pa. v. Casey, overturning almost 50 years of precedent that established the constitutional right to abortion in the United States. While the ramifications of overturning Roe v. Wade extend widely within the United States, it is noteworthy that the Dobbs decision does not alter the country’s commitment to advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) in its foreign assistance initiatives. Nevertheless, on a global scale, this decision reverberates through abortion politics, emboldening attacks on bodily autonomy and abortion access at regional and country levels.

Collaborating with Asia Safe Abortion Partnership, CommonHealth, Education as a Vaccine, Generation Initiative for Women and Youth Network, Kenya Sex Workers Association, KMET, Trust for Indigenous Culture and Health, and the YP Foundation, Fòs Feminista conducted a comprehensive study in Colombia, India, Kenya, and Nigeria. The research delves into the profound impact of the Dobbs decision on laws, policies, narratives, and movements.
