As a co-founder of the International Women’s Health Coalition, Adrienne dedicated her career to ensuring that women and girls worldwide had the freedom to control their own bodies and full access to educational opportunities.
In response to the news of IWHC Co-Founder Adrienne Germain’s passing, Giselle Carino, Chief Executive Officer of Fòs Feminista, shared the following statement:
“We are deeply saddened by the news of Adrienne Germain’s passing. She was a bold and bright advocate for the rights, health, and autonomy of women and girls who changed lives and the world through her passion and leadership. Her legacy is felt in the vibrancy of feminist movements worldwide, and we are proud as Fòs Feminista to carry forward the work of IWHC. Our thoughts are with Adrienne’s family and loved ones.”
As a co-founder of the International Women’s Health Coalition, Adrienne dedicated her career to ensuring that women and girls worldwide had the freedom to control their own bodies and full access to educational opportunities, which she believed were essential to women’s and girls’ rights, the fulfillment of their life projects, and equal participation in society.
Under Adrienne’s leadership, IWHC emerged as a feminist champion for women and girls, amplifying their voices through policymaking, advocacy, and grantmaking across Latin America, Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East. In June 2021, IWHC joined forces with IPPFWHR and CHANGE to create a new feminist alliance—now Fòs Feminista.
