Fòs Feminista reveals the 2022 grades for the SRHR Index

United States

This index has evolved into a valuable tool for advocacy groups, enabling them to ensure the U.S. Government upholds its responsibilities and to devise strategic approaches for advancing SRHR globally.

In collaboration with the Global Women’s Institute at George Washington University, Fòs Feminista first introduced the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) Index in 2018. Its purpose is to evaluate the U.S. government’s efforts in SRHR via global health assistance and to enforce accountability for its commitments.

Through an annual examination of budget data, policies, and various actions, this pioneering index grants public access to information spanning U.S. government agencies and global health funding channels linked to SRHR. The SRHR Index evaluates the U.S. government’s commitments, executive-level leadership, funding allocations, and actions across a comprehensive spectrum of SRHR issues.

The SRHR Index examines the alignment between current efforts and the potential for advancing SRHR through U.S. global health assistance. It takes into account both positive measures supporting SRHR and negative actions impeding progress.
