Fòs Feminista en colaboración con la Fundación WestWind y AMAZE International convocaron a organizaciones de América Latina y el Caribe con trabajo en jóvenes a presentar iniciativas innovadoras

Con el objetivo de continuar con el avance al acceso a la educación integral en sexualidad (EIS) para jóvenes y adolescentes en América Latina y el Caribe, Fòs Feminista, en colaboración con la Fundación WestWind y AMAZE International, lanzó la convocatoria en agosto a los Premios WestWind edición 2023-2024.
Este año, la convocatoria se centró no solo en la inclusión de los videos animados de AMAZE como herramienta innovadora, sino también en el impulso de la participación significativa de las juventudes, teniendo como criterio especifico que las iniciativas participantes fueran lideradas por personas jóvenes.
Recibimos el doble de solicitudes que el año anterior con más de 20 propuestas de 13 diferentes países de la región. Así se mostró la importancia que tiene la EIS en el trabajo de las organizaciones socias de Fòs Feminista. El proceso de selección estuvo a cargo de representantes de las instituciones convocantes.
8 propuestas fueron ganadoras de este proceso (el doble del año pasado) y quienes recibirán 25,000 dólares cada una para la implementación de su proyecto durante los siguientes 12 meses. Las organizaciones son: Asociación de Mujeres Jóvenes Feministas Ameyalli (El Salvador), Fundación Poderosas Colombia (Colombia), Corporación MILES (Chile), Belize Family Life Association-BFLA (Belice), Cidadania, Estudo, Pesquisa, Informação e Ação -CEPIA (Brasil), Siempreviva Oaxaca (México), Mano Vuelta Centro de Estudios y Fortalecimiento (México) e Incodesi (México).
Los proyectos seleccionados constarán de actividades como: la adaptación de contenido de AMAZE al español y a diversas lenguas indígenas; la construcción de materiales complementarios como guías para docentes y personas cuidadoras para brindar EIS; la construcción de espacios para el diálogo sobre la EIS desde diferentes espacios clave, y; la promoción de temas específicos como salud menstrual, consentimiento, entre otros.
Estas propuestas buscan reforzar la EIS a través de diferentes enfoques y estrategias, así como formas innovadoras de promover la salud sexual y reproductiva para adolescentes y jóvenes en la región, todo ello buscando llegar a la población de forma presencial y digital, aprovechando las docenas de videos y otros materiales que AMAZE ha desarrollado junto con organizaciones de la sociedad civil de América Latina y el Caribe durante los últimos años.
Fòs Feminista ha sido una socia clave de AMAZE en el apoyo al desarrollo y la amplia difusión de vídeos educativos y atractivos para los jóvenes adolescentes, sus padres y educadores, en múltiples idiomas, incluyendo diferentes acentos del español de la región, y otros idiomas como el portugués brasileño, el criollo haitiano, el tzotzil y el tzeltal, que son lenguas indígenas de México, así como el lenguaje de señas.

8 organizations will receive the WestWind awards to promote comprehensive sexuality education
Fòs Feminista in collaboration with the WestWind Foundation and AMAZE International invited organizations from Latin America and the Caribbean working with young people to present innovative projects.
To continue advancing access to comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) for youth and adolescents in Latin America and the Caribbean, Fòs Feminista, in collaboration with the WestWind Foundation and AMAZE International, launched the call for proposals in August for the WestWind Awards 2023-2024 edition.
This year, the call focused not only on the inclusion of AMAZE’s animated videos as an innovative tool, but also on the promotion of meaningful youth participation, having as a specific criterion that the participating pojects be led by young people.
We received twice as many applications as the previous year with more than 20 proposals from 13 different countries in the region. This showed the importance of CSE in the work of Fòs Feminista’s partner organizations. The selection process was carried out by representatives of the convening institutions.
8 proposals were selected as the winners of this process (double last year’s number) and who will receive US$25,000 each to implement their project over the next 12 months. The organizations are: Asociación de Mujeres Feminista Jóvenes Ameyalli (El Salvador), Fundación Poderosas Colombia (Colombia), Corporación MILES (Chile), Belize Family Life Association-BFLA (Belize), Cidadania, Estudo, Pesquisa, Informação e Ação -CEPIA (Brazil), Siempreviva Oaxaca (Mexico), Mano Vuelta Centro de Estudios y Fortalecimiento (Mexico) and Incodesi (Mexico).
The selected projects will consist of activities such as: the adaptation of AMAZE content into Spanish and various indigenous languages; the develompent of materials such as guides for teachers and caregivers to provide CSE; theorganization of spaces for dialogue on CSE with different stakeholders, and; the promotion of specific topics such as menstrual health, consent, among others.
These proposals seek to take advantage of the dozens of videos and other materials that AMAZE LAC has developed together with civil society organizations in LAC in the past few years by strengthening different approaches and strategies, and introducing innovative ways to promote sexual and reproductive health for adolescents and youth, both face-to-face and digitally.
Fòs Feminista has been a key partner of AMAZE in supporting the development and wide dissemination of educational and engaging videos for young adolescents, their parents and educators, in multiple languages, including different accents of Spanish from the region, and other languages such as Brazilian Portuguese, Haitian Creole, Tzotzil and Tzeltal, which are indigenous languages of Mexico, as well as sign language.
