Sophie Arseneault

Sophie Arseneault is a long-standing advocate for health equity, supporting community-led approaches to regressive policies impeding on the health and well-being of vulnerable communities. Serving as the Policy and Government Relations Officer for the Canadian Partnership for Women and Children’s Health, Sophie provides strategic assistance in sexual and reproductive health policy and programming to expand equitable access in Canada, and inform the improvement of WCAH outcomes worldwide through the investment in intervention design, implementation, delivery, and monitoring. She further informs the operationalization and implementation of UNICEF, UNAIDS, UNFPA, and UNDP’s ayKP resources aimed at scaling youth-led approaches to the global HIV/AIDS response in regions at risk of being left behind.

Sophie has been a member of Fòs Feminista’s Board of Directors since 2020, serving on the Advocacy and Governance committees. In this capacity, Sophie has addressed disparities in policy and programming through the World Health Organization’s Partnership for Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (PMNCH) as Vice-Chair (<30) of the Accountability Working Group; and Global Steering Committee on the Practical Guidance to Operationalize the Global Consensus Statement on Meaningful Adolescent and Youth Engagement.

Having completed her Baccalaureate of Arts in International Development at McGill University, she is currently completing her Master’s of Science in Sexual and Reproductive Health Policy and Programming at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine – informed by her support of the Canada-Africa Initiative to Address Maternal, Newborn, and Child Mortality in reducing the burden of disease across districts of East Africa, and Global Affairs Canada’s development, analysis, and use of international humanitarian appeal data.
