Pamela Barnes

Pamela is a leading voice in sexual and reproductive health and rights who brings decades of experience with international SRHR movements and feminist civil society organizations to her role as Chairwoman of the Board.

She served as President/CEO at EngenderHealth from 2010 to 2016, where she led a team of more than 600 people working in 22 countries around the world to support the delivery of sexual and reproductive health services. Prior to this position, she was CEO and President of the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, leading successful programs across Africa and Asia. Before taking on the leadership of the Foundation, she served as the Foundation’s COO, in which capacity she managed the organization’s exponential growth and created new strategic partnerships with public and private donors. Pamela was a member of the UN agency and CDC working group on sexual violence against girls in sub-Saharan Africa from 2009-2011.

Pamela has also served as Vice President, Operations and Finance, at the International Trachoma Initiative, and as Vice President of Operations and Finance for Planned Parenthood Hudson Peconic in New York. She is a former Peace Corps volunteer, where she implemented public health programs in Paraguay. She worked for more than 20 years in investment management and corporate finance, including positions as Assistant Treasurer of Corporate Finance at GTE and Assistant Treasurer at RCA.

Pamela is a member of the Fòs Feminista Governance Committee and was the Vice Chairwoman as well as the Chair of the Audit & risk Intelligence Committee from 2020 to 2022. She was an Advisory Director of the Board from 2014 to 2020, and has been a Board Director since 2020. She holds a Bachelor of Science in economics from Marymount College in Tarrytown, New York, and a Master of Business Administration from Fordham University. She has published in peer-reviewed journals as well as in print and online media. Pamela also serves as a member of the Board of Trustees and Chair of the Finance Committee of St. John’s Riverside Hospital, Yonkers, NY, and a member of the Board of Directors of Gynuity. She is a frequent lecturer and presenter at professional, academic, and policy forums.
