At least 164 people have been killed and\u00a0nearly 1,000\u00a0injured, with the toll expected to rise as rescue efforts reach the hardest-hit areas. Widespread disruptions to electricity, transportation, and communications are compounding an already fragile humanitarian situation\u00a0\u2014 one in which communities are\u00a0largely relying\u00a0on civil society and each other for support.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\nF\u00f2s\u00a0Feminista\u00a0has been in close contact with its partners in Venezuela since the earthquakes struck. Their teams are safe, though some staff members have lost homes and are still accounting for family members. Despite this, they are already responding \u2014 opening their\u00a0facilities\u00a0that\u00a0remain\u00a0structurally sound\u00a0to people who have been injured, providing urgent essential supplies,\u00a0and\u00a0coordinating\u00a0to\u00a0maintain\u00a0access to sexual and reproductive health care for the communities that depend on them. Every year,\u00a0F\u00f2s\u00a0Feminista\u2019s\u00a0Alliance delivers more than 3 million sexual and reproductive health services in Venezuela.\u00a0With the\u00a0public health system\u00a0severely\u00a0overstretched,\u00a0our partners are the only reliable source of\u00a0contraception and\u00a0SRH\u00a0care in the country. In a crisis, that responsibility\u00a0doesn\u2019t\u00a0disappear. It grows.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\nF\u00f2s\u00a0Feminista\u00a0is mobilizing support for the health workers on the front lines of this disaster \u2014 the nurses, doctors, and care providers showing up for their communities even as their own lives have been upended.
