She is passionate about making health care accessible to economically and socially marginalized people \u2013 especially poor, immigrant, trans, and young women.\r\n\r\nMayra currently serves as Administrative Director of Colectivo Il\u00e9 Corp, a non-profit organization that is focused on strengthening anti-racist and decolonizing work that leads to changes in the community, academic, spiritual, psychological-social, cultural, economic, and political spheres within and outside of Puerto Rico. Before joining Colectivo Il\u00e9 Corp, Mayra worked as Program Director of PROFAMILIAS, F\u00f2s Feminista\u2019s partner in Puerto Rico.\r\n\r\nFor the past five years, Mayra has been actively collaborating with the \u201cCampa\u00f1a Nacional por el Aborto Libre, Seguro y Accesible\u201d, the only multisectoral coalition in defense of the right to abortion in Puerto Rico, and with the community-based organization Urbe Apie. Mayra is a also a certified abortion doula with the Boston Doula Project.\r\n\r\nMayra\u2019s career began as a Health Educator for various mental health projects, which led her to work with young people and become passionate about youth development and advocacy. She received her bachelor\u2019s degree in Psychology and master\u2019s degree in Public Health at the Medical Sciences Campus of the University of Puerto Rico, where she learned that closing the gap between health services and people living in conditions of poverty and vulnerability is one of the greatest revolutions that can be ignited.
