Las organizaciones locales de salud sexual y reproductiva, como la socia de Fòs Feminista Fideicomiso para la Cultura y la Salud Indígenas (TICAH), have been essential in addressing the urgent needs of women and girls in Kenya since the emergency of the pandemic.

TICAH’s work begins with listening to communities – and particular to women and girls – as the foundation of improving health and wellbeing, and then building around existing local resources and knowledge. Their work is rooted in the premise that the expression of arts and culture is a marker of a community’s health, and that cultural expression and holistic health are intricately connected.

These principles have been key to TICAH’s ability to adapt to the COVID-19 context and respond to the priorities of the communities in which they work.

"It was an opportunity for artists to come together and collaboratively create something that depicts their presence and their continuity through this art," said Peterson Kamwathi, one of the artists involved in the project. "It was also an opportunity to bring our work, I think, in a very grand way into the public space."

{"@context":"https://schema.org","@graph":[{"@type":"WebPage","@id":"https://fosfeminista.org/fr/news-and-stories/listening-to-communities/","url":"https://fosfeminista.org/fr/news-and-stories/listening-to-communities/","name":"Locally-Rooted Strategies - Fòs Feminista","isPartOf":{"@id":"https://fosfeminista.org/#website"},"primaryImageOfPage":{"@id":"https://fosfeminista.org/fr/news-and-stories/listening-to-communities/#primaryimage"},"image":{"@id":"https://fosfeminista.org/fr/news-and-stories/listening-to-communities/#primaryimage"},"thumbnailUrl":"https://fosfeminista.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/TICAH-1.jpg","datePublished":"2021-11-25T20:44:31+00:00","dateModified":"2025-09-19T22:07:16+00:00","description":"Organizations like TICAH have been essential in addressing the urgent needs of women and girls in Kenya since the emergency of the pandemic.","breadcrumb":{"@id":"https://fosfeminista.org/fr/news-and-stories/listening-to-communities/#breadcrumb"},"inLanguage":"es","potentialAction":[{"@type":"ReadAction","target":["https://fosfeminista.org/fr/news-and-stories/listening-to-communities/"]}]},{"@type":"ImageObject","inLanguage":"es","@id":"https://fosfeminista.org/fr/news-and-stories/listening-to-communities/#primaryimage","url":"https://fosfeminista.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/TICAH-1.jpg","contentUrl":"https://fosfeminista.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/TICAH-1.jpg","width":1648,"height":1100,"caption":"Students reading Young Talk –
